Business Central Keyboard Shortcuts You Need to Know

Who doesn’t like saving time when working? Daily duties become easier when we become masters of all the little tricks and tips. Here’s a complete guide to some of the most useful Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central keyboard shortcuts:
 

Alt+Q: Open Tell Me or Search

  • Use the combination Alt+Q to quickly go to pages, actions or reports, search for specific data and find the documentation you need. 
     

F5: Refresh data

  • With F5 you update only data on the page without having to reopen the page.  
     

Ctrl+Alt+F1: Inspect page and data

  • Page inspection allows you to learn the data model behind a page, troubleshoot issues without having to copy production database or view the entire source table. 
     

F8: Copy from the cell above

  • With F8 you copy the field of the row above in the same column and paste it into the current row. 
     

Ctrl+O: Switch companies across environments

You can activate the company switch pane using the Ctrl+O shortcut for easier switching between companies – in the current browser or as a new tab. 
 

Alt+F3: Filter to this field 

Apply a column filter on the selected field value – it functions the same as the button Filter to this value. And if there is already a filter applied to this column, the shortcut Alt+F3 clears it.

  • F9: Post, issue, register, or reverse documents 

  • Shift + F9: Post and print a document 

  • Alt+D: Open the dimension set entries

  • Ctrl+F12: Switch between slim/wide page 

  • Alt+F2: Show and hide the FactBox pane 

  • Shift+Alt+F2: Switch between FactBox areas 

  • Alt+F7: Sort by current column 

  • Tab: Move focus to the next control or element on a page 

  • Shift+Tab: Move focus to the previous control or element on a page 

  • Enter: Confirm the value in the current field and go to the next Quick Entry field 

  • Shift+Enter: Confirm the value in the current field and go to the previous Quick Entry field
